Shirley Jean Fieldseth was born Jan. 6, 1932, in Berkley, Michigan to Edward and “Irene” Jessie (Jordan) Fieldseth. Shirley grew up in Berkley until the age of 15 when she moved with her family to Kimball, Minnesota, where she continued her education. On Aug. 26, 1950, Shirley was united in marriage to Chester G. A. Schmidt at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven. They made their home in Kimball, where they raised their two daughters, Jackie and Sharon. Even though Shirley worked as a nurse’s aide at Madden’s Nursing Home in Kimball for many years, she would say her favorite occupation was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In 1997, Shirley and Chester moved to Annandale. She was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kimball where she served as a Sunday School and religious relief teacher, as well as a member of the ladies group. She then became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale and participated in many bible study groups. Shirley was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Annandale. Since she was a young girl, Shirley always enjoyed swimming, especially in Lake Erie, where she learned to swim. She also enjoyed rollerskating in her youth. Over the years, Shirley found enjoyment in bowling, golfing, reading, and doing word search puzzles. Nothing provided Shirley with greater joy than being in the presence of her family. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Brad) Bouska of Clear Lake and Jackie (Gordon) Morrill of Buffalo; seven grandchildren, Chad (Nichi) Kuechle, Heather (Craig) Moseley, Justin (Deonna) Bouska, Teresa Zuehl (Jeff), Shannon (Jake) Piram, Katie Morrill, and Greg Morrill; great-grandchildren, Sunny Kuechle, Annie Kuechle, Odin Kuechle, Braden Moseley, Seaver Moseley, Samantha Zuehl (fiance, Trever Linder), Ethan Piram, and Ella Piram; siblings, Lillian Sensing of Tempe, Arizona and Ron (Catherine) Fieldseth of Cohasset, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Irene; husband, Chester; brothers, Elvin Fieldseth and baby Kenneth Fieldseth. Shirley’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
