Elaine S. Ferrell

Elaine S. Ferrell, 81, of Ashland, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022, after battling pancreatic cancer. She was born in Ashland, Wisconsin in 1941 to Francis Orlando Sabin and Inga Lydia (Nelson) Sabin. Elaine grew up in Grand View, Wisconsin and attended the Drummond school district. She was chosen as the “Good Citizen” of her senior class based on dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. Elaine was united in marriage to Lowell Guy Ferrell in Grand View, Wisconsin in 1963. This marriage was blessed with two children, Gerald Lee and Cheryl Lynn. They built their life in Annandale, Minnesota and shared 45 years of marriage together until the passing of Lowell in 2007. She worked at Malco in Annandale, Minnesota for several years and made many treasured friendships. She also volunteered at the Annandale Care Center. After her retirement, Lowell and Elaine moved to Arizona City, Arizona. While in Arizona, she volunteered at Eloy Veterans Center and made a deep impact on all who attended. Prior to her diagnosis in 2019, she moved back to Wisconsin to be close to family. Elaine was a caregiver at heart and loved music, reading, going for walks, and visiting with friends. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jaydene (Cody) Forester and Eli (Michaela) Ferrell, their mother Denise Ferrell-Beckala, four great-grandchildren, her sister Gerry (Jack) Hoiby, a special niece Wendy Hoiby, a nephew Jason Hoiby, and several relatives in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Inga Sabin, her husband Lowell Ferrell, her sister Shirley Sabin Davis, her children Gerald and Cheryl, and her nephew Steve Bennett. The burial will be held at Sylvan Cemetery in Howard Lake, Minnesota.
