Sally Eileen Snider was born on Dec. 14, 1934, in Nappanee, Indiana to Russell and Wilma Snider. Sally grew up in Nappanee where she graduated from high school in 1952. She then attended North Central College in Naperville, Illinois graduating in 1956 with majors in music education and education and minors in English and social studies. Sally was united in marriage to Russlie Froemming on July 18, 1959. After living one year in California, they moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota, and then to Annandale in 1967. Sally taught school in Illinois, California, and Glencoe, Minnesota before teaching for 26 years in Annandale. She was named Teacher of the Year twice during her teaching career. She loved creating board games, posters, bulletin boards, and activities for her students that many of her students will remember. Her love for teaching and her students impacted hundreds of children over the course of her career. Sally was a member of the United Methodist Church at various locations, including Hutchinson, Annandale and Buffalo. Some of her volunteer work over the years included being a Sunday school superintendent, teaching Sunday school, helping with Meals on Wheels, and crocheting prayer shawls and plastic sleeping mats for the homeless. Sally was a talented musician playing the flute, accordion, piano and organ. She used her musical gift to bless others; she was the church organist and pianist for the Annandale United Methodist Church for several years. Not only musically talented, but also creative, Sally always had a project to work on; be it painting in her early years; ceramics while her children were growing up; crocheting, tatting, scrapbooking and card making upon retirement; and finally coloring intricate coloring sheets with colored pencils when it was too difficult to hold a crochet hook due to her arthritis. Sally also enjoyed reading, working on Sudoku puzzles, spending a few minutes each day connecting with family and friends on Facebook, and showing her competitive spirit playing board games with her children and grandchildren. Sally’s family brought her great joy, and she loved when family was together. Sally was a kind, compassionate, caring, thoughtful person. She will always be remembered for her encouraging words to all she met. Sally loved God and loved people. She leaves behind her husband, Russlie of Annandale; three children, Timothy (Barb) Froemming, Jody (Jon) Strand, Todd Froemming, and daughter-in-law, MaryJo Froemming; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Pat (Phil) Lehman; brother, James Snider; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rustie; and brother, Charles Snider. Sally’s grandchildren will serve as honorary casket bearers. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale. The obituary, guestbook, video tribute, and funeral webcast are online at www.dingmannfuneral.com.
