Elaine M. Manke, age 83, of Annandale, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Dec. 5, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale with Fr. Kevin Magner as Celebrant. Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Visitation was held Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and on Monday at the church. A prayer service was held Sunday at the funeral home. Elaine Margaret Zahler was born July 26, 1939, in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Milford and Theresa (Tellers) Zahler. Elaine grew up in Kimball, along with her two brothers. Elaine graduated from Kimball High School in 1957. On Aug. 28, 1957, she was united in marriage to Jerry Manke at St. Anne Catholic Church in Kimball. They made their home in Annandale, where they raised their six children. For over 40 years, Elaine opened her home and her heart as a daycare provider for many families. Elaine enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and creating other craft projects. She liked to play cards, bingo, bake, cook, and try her luck occasionally at the casino. She also loved to travel. What Elaine treasured the most was the time she was able to spend in the presence of her family. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jerry of Annandale; children, Duane (Susie) Manke, David Manke, Deb (Tim) Nabours, all of Annandale, Doug (Renee) of Kentucky, Diane (Paul Carter) of Clearwater, and Denise of Annandale; 14 grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Daniel, Joshua, DeAnn, Ryan, Amber, Noah, Adam, Aaron, Amanda, Justin, Megan, and Kayla; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene (Mary) Zahler of Maple Grove and Leo Zahler of Annandale; aunts, Lorraine Miller; sisters-in-law, Frances Truenow, Arlene Marquette, Joan Manke, and Betty Manke; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Milford and Theresa Zahler; great-granddaughter, Alana Manke; and other dear family members. Elaine’s grandchildren will serve as the casket bearers and honorary casket bearers. St. Ignatius Music Ministry provided music for the service.
