Elma L. Peterson

Elma L. Peterson, age 100, of Annandale, died Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Maranatha Care Center in Brooklyn Center where she had lived since 2015. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Todd Nelsen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Elma Olean was born March 10, 1923, in Annandale to Oscar and Elsie Olean. Elma attended and graduated from Annandale High School in 1941. On July 23, 1943, Elma was united in marriage to Kenneth Peterson in Albion. He preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2005. Elma was primarily a homemaker, raising six children. She also worked several years at Wonderalls in Buffalo, a company that manufactured children’s clothing. Elma was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was active in many things such as WELCA, the cemetery committee, and quilting group. Throughout her life, Elma was also active in bowling leagues, sewing and birthday clubs. Elma loved to be outdoors, tending to her garden or lawn, or hosting picnics. She was a tremendous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who thoroughly enjoyed getting together with both family and friends. Elma recently celebrated her 100th birthday with her six children, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with several of her nieces and nephews. Elma is survived by her children, Carol Wahl of Minneapolis, Ron (Kris) Peterson of St. Paul, Becky (Sam) Sherstad of Dallas, Texas, Rick Peterson of Dallas, Texas, Pam (Jeff) Carter of Plymouth, and Noel Peterson of Dallas, Texas; 15 grandchildren, Peter (Sara), Heather (Bill), Andrew (Sophie), Kelly (Judith), Casey (Heather), Jesika, Christian, Josh (Tara), Jaime, Kate (Clint), Alanna (Andy), Matthew (Lea), Dane (Rachael), Sarah (Ravi) and Tyler; 23 great-grandchildren with another due in July; sister-in-law, Delores; and nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Clarence, Walter, Harold, and Robert; one sister, Betty Johnson; and son-in-law, John Wahl.
