Shannon Marie Gilhooly was born on Oct. 23, 1965, in Jamestown, North Dakota to Roger and Cleone (Fried) Gilhooly. She grew up alongside her four siblings in Jamestown, where she graduated high school. After her graduation, Shannon moved to Bismarck before relocating to the Minneapolis area. Shannon was united in marriage to David A. Ding in 1990 at Como Park in St. Paul. Together, they started their family in northeast Minneapolis, before raising their kids in Annandale. For years, Shannon ran her own cleaning business. In 2019, Shannon and Dave moved to Hutchinson to be closer to their family. Most recently, Shannon was employed with Our Savior’s Lutheran Early Learning Childcare as a cook.

Shannon’s love for making holidays special, cooking, and crafting brought joy to those around her, while her knack for refurbishing furniture and her beautiful flower gardens highlighted her talent and creative spirit. Her love for fall colors and sewing brought color and warmth into the lives of all who knew her. Shannon cherished moments with her family, especially her adoring grandchildren.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Dave Ding of Hutchinson; children, Brandon Ding (Claire Bradley) of Arlington and Amanda (Devon) Raisanen of Litchfield; two grandsons, Oliver and Sebastian; siblings, Beth Gann of Viborg, South Dakota, Barb Gilhooly (Ann Hanna) of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Pat Gilhooly (Trina Lapp) of Bismarck; and other family members and friends.
