Dolores Helen Freeman was born on the family farm on August 3, 1937, in Dassel Township to Gustaf and Esther (Nelson) Freeman. She graduated from Dassel High School in 1954 and went on to attend Model Beauty School in Minneapolis, where she earned her cosmetology license in 1957.

On March 25, 1961, she was united in marriage to John Warren Hogberg. They made their home in Dassel, before moving to Minneapolis. Her passion for beauty led her to work in a salon in Edina for three years, and she later owned and operated her own salon in downtown Dassel. However, her greatest joy came when she became a dedicated homemaker, pouring love and warmth into raising their two sons, David and Mark. In 1966, the family made their home in rural Annandale, where Dolores created a nurturing environment for her boys to thrive.

Dolores was a woman of many talents and passions. She was baptized and confirmed at Dassel Covenant Church, where her faith grounded her throughout her life. As a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, she taught many kids at Sunday School. In the community, Dolores served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and worked as a cook at Bendix Elementary after her sons graduated. She enjoyed gatherings with her card club. She immersed herself in crafting, gardening, and reading, and cheering on her beloved Minnesota Vikings. Above all, Dolores treasured her family. She found immense joy in the company of her granddaughters and great-granddaughters.

Dolores is survived by her sons, David (Penny) Hogberg and Mark Hogberg, both of Annandale; grandchildren, Kelli (Matt) Bronder, Kirsten (Jay) Horner, Noelle Hogberg, and Raquel Hogberg; great-granddaughters, Hadley, Hazel, Bria, and Avery; sisters-in-law, Sandy Freeman and Judy Gudmundson, both of Dassel; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; parents; siblings, Lawrence (Betty) Freeman, Grace (Gerhard) Hendrickson, Rose (John) O’Fallon, Earl (Louise) Freeman, Clifford Freeman and infant sister, Fern Freeman; and brother-in-law, Sheldon Hogberg.

Dolores’ granddaughters will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements are being entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
