
Eleanor M. Woelfel, age 86, of Annandale, died Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Buffalo Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale, with Fr. Kevin Magner as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Eleanor Marie Schnichels was born in St. Paul, Minn., on November 26, 1938, to George and Helen (Kissner) Schnichels. Eleanor grew up in St. Paul, where she attended high school. On June 9, 1956, Eleanor was united in marriage to Lawrence L. Woelfel in St. Paul. They made their home in the metro area, before relocating to Lake Sylvia, near Annandale, to raise their family. Eleanor was a dedicated homemaker, lovingly nurturing her family, where her warmth created a home filled with love.
Eleanor found joy in everyday moments, whether it was engaging in crossword puzzles or cheering passionately for her favorite Minnesota sports teams. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Larry of Annandale; children, Steven (Audrey) of Pequot Lakes, Robert (Deb) of Annandale, Gregory (Sherry) of Annandale, Pamela Kensler of Arvada, Colo., and Christopher (Rebecca) of Greenfield; six grandchildren, Ryan, Breann, Zachary, Stephanie, Jenna, and Eli; seven great-grandchildren, Artemis, Arlo, Ash, Aria, Zoey, Hayden, and Liliana; siblings, Diane Schwier, Mary Ellen (Brad) Nelson, and Judy (Tom) Barrett; brother-in-law, Terry Woelfel; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Schnichels; grandson, Todd Woelfel; son-in-law, Tom Kensler; sisters, Marlys Woelfel and Marlene Lakie; and brothers, George Schnichels and Pete Schnichels.
Eleanor’s grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
