Anderson places second at state

Annandale-Maple Lake Lightning wrestler Jake Anderson, 140 pounds, took second place in the state Class 2A wrestling meet Saturday, March 1, at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Anderson lost an 8-4 decision to Eric Yngsdal of Byron. Anderson led early in the match.

Anderson earned his way to the championship round with another win on Friday, Feb. 29, at the state wrestling meet. He will wrestle in the afternoon on Saturday, March 1, at the Xcel Energy Center.

Anderson defeated Dan Merth of St. Paul Highland Park by fall on Friday. Anderson moved on to wrestle Yngsdal in the championship match.

Earlier, Anderson, won on Thursday, Feb. 28, with an 8-2 decision over St. Michael-Albertville’s Ben Horn.

He also won on Wedneday, Feb. 27 (see separate story).
