The Cardinal girls basketball team picked up two more wins last week, defeating Monticello and FAIR. The Annandale girls are now 3-0 for the season.
Annandale 53, Monticello 41
The Cardinal girls basketball team traveled to Monticello on Thursday, Dec. 10, and came away with a nice win against a bigger school.
"Monticello was a good win for us. They brought a lot of pressure all game long," said head coach Matt Dreier. "It was a good challenge for our guards, and we handled the pressure very well. Our depth was crucial in this game as fatigue set in for both teams, but we were able to keep bringing in fresh bodies.
"Monticello had no answer to Kamryn D’Heilly during the first half, as she was able to give us 14 points, many of them off offensive rebounds. Hannah Purcell added 11 for us, bringing scoring threats from both inside and out.
"Our bench had a lot of energy, which really got the girls going on the court. The girls did a great job on the offensive boards giving us second-chance points, and those are huge against good teams like Monticello.
