Dennis J. “Herbie” Nemeth

Dennis J. “Herbie” Nemeth, 53, of Clearwater, died Thursday, November 29, 2001 in Rochester after a long battle with cancer.
Memorial services were held Monday, December 3 at Rejoice Lutheran church in Clearwater.
Survived by his loving wife Karen, daughters, Michelle Illies of Sartell and Shari Gohman of Clearwater, five grandchildren, parents, Sigmond and Lorraine Nemeth of St. Cloud, seven brothers and sisters, Darlene Hackett, Darrel, Douglas, Diane Sufka, Dale, Dona Wippler, and Donald.
Preceded in death by his infant sister Mary Rose.
Herbie was born on Sept. 15, 1948 in Elk River to Sigmond and Lorraine (Zahler) Nemeth. He graduated from Sauk Rapids High School and attended the Dunwoody Institute. He became a master electrician. He married Karen Maze on Nov. 30, 1968 at Sacred Heart Church in Sauk Rapids. He started D&N Electric Contracting Business and later Nemeth Electric. He was a beekeeper, owned and operated several apartment complexes and student housing facilities, and developed the Bulldog articulating front-end loader. He farmed and raised sheep in the Clearwater area for many years. He owned and operated an auto repair and engine rebuilding business, along with an irrigation business. He obtained his appraisal license and also owned and operated an orange grove in Florida for several years. He obtained his private pilot license and became instrument rated in 2001. He was a member of the EAA and constructed four personal airplanes. He also developed the EFP2000, a poultry-processing machine and obtained a U.S. patent for his invention.
