Marie L. Wolterman, 73, of Fairfax passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 1999, at her daughter’s residence in Miami, Fla.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. Interment was at the church cemetery.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Marla Wolterman of Minneapolis, and Jan (Chris) Koop of S. Miami, Fla.; granddaughters, Megan and Brittney Koop of S. Miami, Fla.; brother, Clem Anton and wife Alice of Marshall; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Rosemary Kappenman of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Jeanette Krebs of Laurens, Iowa; Marilyn (Clarence) Wendinger of Fairfax; Shirley Fitzgerald of Lucan; Maribeth (Lyle) U’Ren of Reno, Nev.; Murial (John) Kammermeyer of Burnsville; Jolene (Dave) U’Ren of Rushford; and Gerald (Lorraine) Wolterman of Charles City, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Wolterman; a son in infancy; parents John and Marie Anton; brother, Cyril Anton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Stanley Wolterman, Clarice Murphy, Jim Murphy, Jack Fitzgerald, Jim Kappenman, DDS, and Jack Krebs.
Marie Louis Wolterman was born on May 22, 1926 in St. Cloud. She was the daughter of John and Marie (Heinze) Anton. She was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. Marie grew up in St. Cloud and in Fairfax. She attended St. Andrew’s Catholic School and continued her education with a bookkeeping course at vocational school in Mankato. Marie held employment at the county offices and at a bank in Olivia.
On March 2, 1957, Marie was united in marriage with Duane Wolterman in Olivia. This union was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Marla and Jan.
The couple resided in Winthrop where they raised their family, Marie worked for Midland Co-op Oil and S & S Contractors. The family later moved to Annandale, when Duane was transferred for his job. Marie took a position at Carlson Marketing Organization in Howard Lake. They returned and moved to Fairfax in 1993. Duane passed away on January 27, 1999. The couple shared 41 years of marriage together. Marie continued living in Fairfax and she annually wintered in Florida.
Marie was a past member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Winthrop. She was a current member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax, where she belonged to the St. Mary’s Society and the Catholic Aid. She was also a member and the current president of the Fairfax V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and she belonged to the Civic League, Marie loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidery and playing cards.
