– The Annandale Food Outreach monthly distribution of free food and products to low income and in-crisis families was to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at St. John’s Lutheran’s Church in Annandale, 331 Harrison St. One per household (no proxy boxes will be allowed.) Bring two sturdy boxes or laundry baskets to carry food.   – A diabetes screening clinic will be held at Arenson’s Pharmacy on Oak Avenue from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 24. Walk-ins are welcome. Stop by the store, and also see the ad in this Advocate for more information.  – A Fluff ‘N Puff pillow cleaning will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 25, in the St. Ignatius Catholic Church parking lot, Annandale. The event is sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 354. There is same day service. See the ad on page 5B.  – The Fourth of July Celebration Gala will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 26, at Reichel’s Event Center. The community is invited to this annual pre-Fourth of July event. Advance tickets are on sale at Miller’s Jewelry and the Advocate office. See the ad in this Advocate.  – Singer-songwriter Marienne Kreitlow will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, June 26, in Annandale Municipal Park. This free event is part of the summer concert series. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the performance.  – BLEND, Better Living: Exercise and Nutrition Daily, is inviting people of all ages and abilities to participate in an attempt to break the Guinness record for the largest bike parade from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, in St. Cloud’s Whitney Park. Preregistration is strongly suggested and those who register before Wednesday, June 24, at www.BLENDcentralMN.org will receive a free commemorative T-shirt. Saturday begins with a 1K and 5K run at 8:15 a.m. Other events are planned including a dance from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. On Sunday an outdoor polka Mass will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a chicken dinner, games, live music and more. See the ad in this Advocate for more information.  – The Buffalo Women of Today will host Carlson’s Pillow Cleaning Service on Saturday, June 27, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Coborn’s parking lot. Pillows will be cleaned, deodorized, sanitized and fluffed at the mobile unit while you wait. Proceeds go to BWT. The group is also accepting food shelf items and donations.  -n The Annandale Farmers Market will open at 8 a.m. and close at noon beginning Saturday, June 27. The market runs each Saturday until Oct. 10 (except for the Fourth of July weekend). It’s located near the Annandale City Hall on Cedar Street.  – The Lake John Association annual meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Annandale Municipal Park Pavilion. Coffee and donuts will be served at 9:30. All Lake John property owners and other interested parties are invited. Call 274-5889 for more information.  – Annandale’s Fourth of July celebration Kiddie Parade will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27. Lineup is at Annandale Middle School.  – The 83rd annual Old Settlers Picnic and parade will take place Saturday, June 27, at Fair Haven Park. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and be followed by games and food stands. The Maple Lake Jazz Band will perform and there will be many other activities. The queen coronation will be at 7 p.m., and a dance featuring Wildwood starts at 8. Call Brenda Newman, 236-7491, with any questions. Also, see the article and candidate photos on page 7.  – Annandale’s ambassadors candidates car wash will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the fire station. This is a fundraiser for the candidates.  – The Annandale Care Center Auxiliary will meet at 3 p.m. Monday, June 29, at the Care Center’s conference room. New members are welcome.  – Saturday, July 4, is Independence Day. On this day in 1776, Congress declared its independence from British rule. Thomas Jefferson wrote, "… when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security." The Declaration was signed by 56 members of Congress.  – Classic Rides & Rods will hold a car show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at Classic Rides & Rods in Annandale. Enjoy a relaxing time and socialize with fellow club members. Bring a dish to pass.  – Representatives from Michele Bachmann’s office will be at Annandale City Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 9. Bachmann, R-Stillwater, represents the Sixth District in the U.S. House, which includes the Annandale-South Haven area. Representatives are in Annandale the second Thursday of the month during these hours.  – Xibaba, a Brazilian Jazz group, will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, July 10, at the Annandale Municipal Park as part of the summer concert series. Bring a lawn chair to the park and enjoy this free event.  – The Annandale Area Community Team Arts Committee invites the public to the Petals and Palate Garden Tour and Luncheon Saturday, July 11, from 9 a.m, to l p.m. Advance tickets only are on sale at the Snooty Fox Gallery in Annandale.
