Steven E. Stewart

Steven E. "Preacher Steve" Stewart, 59, of Annandale, formerly of Staples, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008.  Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept 4, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale.  Pastor DJ Lura will officiate and burial will be in the National Hobo Cemetery in Britt, Iowa.  Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Steven Earl "Preacher Steve" Stewart was born Dec. 11, 1948, in Iowa to Lawrence and Ruth (Baughman) Stewart.  He worked as an LPN.  Steve married Lea (Crawford) Burke on Aug. 11, 2001, in Britt, Iowa.  Preacher Steve was the National King of Hobos in 1999-2000, Grand Head Pipe of the Hobos, was a member of the Hobo King King’s Council, National Hobo Council, was president of the Tourist Union 63 and was a member of Phi-Theta-Kappa Honor Society.  He enjoyed fishing, freight train riding and family.  Preacher Steve is survived by his wife, Lea Burke of Annandale; stepdaughters, Colleen Burke and Patricia Burke, both of Annandale; and his hobo family.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson, John Klopp.
