
Roland “Butch” John Miller, age 62, of South Haven, Minnesota, formerly of Glencoe and Fulda, Minnesota, husband of Rena Miller, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud. Memorial service was Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe with interment following at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel. A celebration of Butch’s life was held Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at the V by HH in Maple Lake. Clergy Officiating: Pastor Dawn Quame. Roland John Miller was born on Jan. 11, 1959, in Worthington, Minnesota. He was the son of Roland Wilbur and Florence Jeanette (Cooley) Miller. Roland was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda, Minnesota. Roland attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Fulda, until the eighth grade. He attended Fulda High School grades nine through 12 and was a graduate of Fulda High School in the class of 1977. Roland continued his education at a Technical College in Pipestone, with studies in Lumberyard Management. On April 19, 2002, Roland was united in marriage to Rena Ramthun in Glencoe. The couple made their first home in Belle Plaine, they then moved to Glencoe and most recently made their home in South Haven on the lake. With this unity a family of five was formed which includes sons, Brandon Miller and Matt Janssen; and step-daughter, Alissa Ramthun. Roland and Rena shared over 19 years of marriage together. Roland worked as a Millwright in the Fabrication Industry. He worked his way up over the years repairing steam turbines and retired as a journeyman Millwright. Growing up, Roland was a member of the Boy Scouts, in which he learned skills to be an outdoorsman. He enjoyed the great outdoors throughout the years with hunting (deer, pheasant, duck) and spending time out on the lake, fishing. He relished every time he would spot a loon. Roland enjoyed watching the races in Brainerd, going for a drink…or two with friends and he appreciated retirement. Blessed be his memory. Roland is survived by his wife, Rena Miller of South Haven, Minnesota; sons, Brandon Miller and his wife, Amy, of Worthington, Minnesota, Matt Janssen and his fiancé, Sadee, of Trimont, Minnesota; stepdaughter, Alissa Ramthun and her boyfriend, Matthew, of Lester Prairie, Minnesota; grandchildren, Ayriona Hanks, Aryiah Miller, Eliza Miller, Deklyn Janssen; step-grandchild, Natalie Lhotka; sisters, Sandie Melton and her husband, John of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, Joyce Wermerson and her husband, Jerry of Madison, South Dakota; mother-in-law, Linda Bargmann of Glencoe; brothers-in-law, Wayne Singer of Westbrook, Minnesota, Dean Ramthun and his wife, Helen, of Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Florence Miller; father-in-law, Robert Ramthun; sisters, Janie Singer, Nancy Engler and her husband, Tom.
