Gary L. Carlson

Gary L. Carlson, age 63, of South Haven, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at the M Health Fairview – University of Minnesota Hospital. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Pastor Keith Carlson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, French Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home website. Gary LaVerne Carlson was born Feb. 8, 1958, in Rockford, IL to Roger and Lavona (Thomas) Carlson. Gary grew up in Spring Lake Park, where he graduated in 1976. He then furthered his education in mechanics and electrical engineering. Gary lived in Circle Pines before moving to Annandale. He was married to LeaLonnie (Kastner) Schultz on April 29, 2000. In 2008, they moved to their current home in rural South Haven. Gary worked as a manager at Tech Etch in Litchfield for 14 years, before having to retire in 2015 due to a double lung transplant. Gary enjoyed all things cars. Muscle cars, fast cars, if it was a car, Gary enjoyed it. He also liked to be outdoors camping and having fun in the mud. Above all, he loved being a Grandpa to his eight grandchildren. Gary is survived by his wife, Lonnie of South Haven; children, Jason (April) Carlson of Zimmerman, Ryan Carlson of Champlin, Kristin (Tony) Oelmann of Stacy, Erik (Jen) Schultz of Clearwater, and Nikki (Kyle) Yelton of Meridian, ID; eight adoring grandchildren, Lyssa, Taila, Hailie, Blake, JoJo, Eli, Ashtyn, and Austin; parents, Roger and Lavona Carlson of Fridley; siblings, Lynn (Terry) Closson of Fridley, Darryl (Lori) Carlson of Shoreview, Bryce (Pam) Carlson of Ramsey, and Melody (Tracy) McConkey of Cokato; and nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends. Erik Schultz, Tony Oelmann, Andy Larson, and Tyson Taylor will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
