
Charles L. Galles, age 89, of Annandale died Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Centracare Melrose Care Center. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Maple Lake with Rev. Culynn Curtis officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Lake Community Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Charles LeRoy Galles was born April 7, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to LeRoy and Ethel (Johnson) Galles. Charles grew up on the family farm near Belle Plaine, and attended country school. Prior to joining the National Guard, Charles worked alongside his family on the farm. On July 25, 1964, Charles was united in marriage to Patricia Rich at First Methodist Church in Inver Grove Heights. They moved to a hobby farm in Cologne, where Charles and his father built the house. During their years in Cologne, Charles worked for Johnson & Bigler. Charles was a member of the Carver Lions Club and served as an officer. He was also a member of a snowmobile club based in Carver. In 1982, they moved to the Annandale area and Charles continued driving truck and working as a mechanic for Model Stone, retiring in 1998. Even though he officially retired, Charles was not one to sit still. He remained active woodworking, welding, and working on automobiles. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing. Charles is survived by his children, Roger (Tamie) of Puerto Penasco, Mexico, Laura Anderson of Rice, Kimberly (Eugene) Kubat of Freeport, and Randy (Marianne) Galles of Buffalo; eight grandchildren, Zack, Amber, Jeffrey, Kathryn, Michael, Nathan, Jacob, and Kevin; brother, Jerry (Mary) Galles of Blaine; and nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; parents, LeRoy and Ethel; siblings, Sharon Ries, Marion Galles, and Eugene Galles; nephew, Patrick Galles; and niece, Holly Northum.
