Kurt Allen Erickson was born July 28, 1970, in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Kermit “Kurt” and JoAnne (Daraitis) Erickson. Kurtie grew up in Annandale, where he attended school. On June 10, 1995, Kurt was united in marriage to Heidi K. Mattila at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Annandale. Kurtie owned and operated Kurt Erickson Construction LLC. Kurt paid attention to details; he was a perfectionist, his work was meticulous, and his talent showed through.
Kurtie was always ready to help a family member, neighbor, or friend. He loved to spend time outdoors fishing, hunting, camping, putting his green thumb to work with his plants, or tending to his bees. His faithful four-legged companion, Misty, was never far from his side. He always looked forward to fishing trips, from Pierre, South Dakota to salmon fishing in Michigan, and every lake in between. His greatest joy came from being with his wife and boys.
Kurt is survived by his wife of 28 years, Heidi of Annandale; sons, Hunter and Kody of Annandale; mother, JoAnne Erickson of Annandale; sisters, Lisa Erickson of Annandale and Laura Ahsenmacher of South Haven; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Helen Mattila of Isle; sister-in-law, April (Jeremy) Adams of Buffalo; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Kermit “Kurt”; grandparents, Kenneth and Elsie Erickson and Josephine and Dominick Daraitis.
