Lawrence Leonard Woelfel was born on February 21, 1934, in Wabasso, Minn., to Edward and Viola (Kramer) Woelfel. He grew up in Bird Island along with his 15 brothers and sisters. On June 9, 1956, Larry was united in marriage to Eleanor Marie Schnichels in St. Paul. They lived in the metro area, before making their home on Lake Sylvia, near Annandale, where they raised their family.
Larry worked as a union carpenter with Opus Corporation and Gunner I. Johnson Co. in Minneapolis. He retired in 2003 after dedicating 50 years to his trade.
Larry often spent hours in his garage, tinkering and creating, or solving challenging sudoku puzzles that ignited his intellectual curiosity. He even filed a patent for one of his inventions. Larry also enjoyed going to auctions and the swappers meet. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his beloved family who were his pride and joy. Larry lived a life filled with hard work, family, and a deep appreciation for both the simple and profound moments.
He is survived by his children, Steven (Audrey) of Pequot Lakes, Robert (Deb) of Annandale, Gregory (Sherry) of Annandale, Pamela Kensler of Delano, and Christopher (Rebecca) of Greenfield; six grandchildren, Ryan, Breann, Zachary, Stephanie, Jenna, and Eli; seven great-grandchildren, Artemis, Arlo, Ash, Aria, Zoey, Hayden, and Liliana; brothers, LeRoy, Cyril (Connie), Clayton (Vicki), Terrance, and Mike (Rosemary); sisters, Phyllis (Tom) Clardy and Joyce Tatge; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Woelfel, Diane Schwier, Mary Ellen (Brad) Nelson, and Judy (Tom) Barrett; and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
