The Cardinals got an early season test in the top-ranked and defending state champion Rockford Rockets. The Cardinals couldn’t keep up with the Rockets offensive attack, delivering 16 hits – six of the extra base variety, including two home runs – in an eventual 13-2 home loss via ten-run rule in five innings on April 14.
