The Cardinal girls extended their winning streak to 15 games last week with two more wins against WCC-West foes Rockford and Mound-Westonka.
Going into this week, the Cards’ overall record was 24-1. In the WCC-West the Cardinals remain in first place with a 12-1 record.
Annandale 63, Rockford 54
The Annandale girls traveled to Rockford for a game against the Rockets on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
The Cards had a strong first half and went into the locker room up by 16, 40-24.
"Our girls did a good job pushing the ball up the court in transition," said head coach Matt Dreier. "We played really well inside and out."
Annandale built the lead up to 25 with seven minutes left in the game. Dreier was able to get all the girls in the game.
"The girls did a great job playing unselfishly both games this week and continue to play very well as a team," said Dreier. "They are playing as one right now and it is fun to be around."

Annandale 46, Mound-Westonka 39
On Friday, Feb. 19, the Cardinal girls made the trip to Mound-Westonka for a game against the White Hawks.
"Mound-Westonka is one of the toughest gyms to play in," Dreier said. "The bleachers are 20 feet behind the chairs the players sit on and are only on one side. The other side is just empty gym. It is an odd environment for the players."
The White Hawks played the Cards very well. They scored the first points of the game and went into a stall offense for much of the game, even when trailing by a few points.
"They love to pass the ball around and wait for the defense to make a mistake," Dreier said. "The game just doesn’t flow very well."
Annandale took a 24-16 lead at the half.
"We came out strong the first few possessions in the second half and then hit a wall," Dreier said. "Mound got a few baskets and cut the lead to single digits again."
While the Cards did not shoot well, they did hit the offensive boards and got many second chances on offense.
"Our girls did the little things to give ourselves the best chance to get it done, which they did," Dreier said. "It is so important to do the little things right, especially when the ball isn’t going in the hoop."
