Wining streak stopped at Sartell

In their only action last week the Annandale-Maple Lake-Monticello Moose dropped a 5-0 decision on the road to Sartell-St. Stephen.

The Moose entered the game on a three-game winning streak, but failed to generate much offense against the Sabres, who allowed the Moose just 18 fruitless shots on goal.

The Sabres struck twice in the first period, during which they outshot the Moose 14-7, then added a second goal in the middle frame to extend their lead. They closed out the third period with another pair of goals.

Moose backup goaltender Tyler Klatt played just under four minutes in his first varsity action of the season, stopping the only shot he faced during that time.

Starting goalie Connor Bird has been strong in net for the Moose, owning a 2.22 goals-against average and a save percentage of .925.

Through the first 10 games of the season the Moose have a 5-5 record, but they are just 1-3 in the nine-team Mississippi 8 Conference, sitting one place above cellar-dwelling North Branch in the league standings. Plenty of league schedule remains, with the bulk of the team’s conference contests coming in January and February.
