■ The Wright County Tea Party Patriots were scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at the Buffalo Airport meeting room. Area state representatives planned to discuss the recently completed legislative session. An economics video was to be shown prior to the meeting at 5:30 p.m.
■ The Minnesota Highway Safety Center will be offering 55-plus driver improvement courses in Buffalo in the next week. An eight-hour first time course will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, June 5 and 6, at Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 507 County Road 134. In addition, a four-hour refresher course will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, June 9, at the Buffalo Community Center, 206 Central Avenue. There is a fee for the courses. Those age 55 and older who complete the course qualify for a 10-percent discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years. ■ The Annandale Farmers Market begins Saturday, June 7, and runs Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon, throughout the summer in front of city hall. See the story in this issue.
■ The Clearwater Lake Property Owners annual meeting will be held on Saturday, June 7, at the Annandale City Hall. Coffee and rolls will be served at 8 a.m. and the meeting begins at 9 a.m.

■ The Summer Concert Series begins with the Annandale Community Band at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 13, at Annandale Municipal Park. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the free performance.

■ The Annandale Municipal Park beach house will open Monday, June 16. The beach house will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until Aug. 15. There are bathrooms and showers. There will also be concessions, games and crafts. There will be a beach attendant, but there is no lifeguard. The beach house is sponsored by the Annandale Area Community Team (ACT).
■ The Wellness on Wheels van will be at the Marketplace in Annandale from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 19. The Wright County Human Services van provides a number of health services and screenings at no or reduced costs, including immunizations. Orders for this Saturday must be received by Friday, June 13. Orders for the next month can be placed when food is picked up. ■ Lake Maria State Park is hosting Turtle Day from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21. Meet some of the park’s resident turtles. Herpetologist Jim Gerholdt will share his knowledge about their habits and adaptations. Live turtles will be on display. No registration required.
■ A benefit for Karen Freitag will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Silver Creek, 11390 Elliott Avenue NW, Maple Lake. There will be a meal, bake sale, silent auction and various door prizes. Freitag lost her trailer home and all of her belongings in a fire the day before Easter.
■ The free Summer Concert Series features Harper’s Chord at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27, at Annandale Municipal Park.
■ The annual Kickoff to the Fourth of July Gala begins with a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27, at Reichel’s Event Center. Program, dinner, entertainment and dancing. Tickets are available in June at Annandale State Bank and Star Bank, Annandale.
■ The Annandale Friends of the Library book sale runs from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 28, at city hall. Bring your books, movies, puzzles, records and tapes to the library during operating hours through Tuesday, June 24. Donations should be in good condition. No encyclopedias or Reader’s Digest condensed books will be accepted.
■ The Annandale Food Shelf is partnering with several other organizations to offer a free community breakfast to feed the hungry from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, at Minnesota Pioneer Park’s Big Woods building. The breakfast will be cooked by volunteers from Silver Creek Community Church. See the brief in this edition for more information.
