A Cold Spring man was injured Thursday, May 31, after his van was struck by a tractor in Fairhaven Township.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office reported the crash, on County Road 7 and County Road 147, occurred around 5 a.m with dense fog conditions reported in the area
The tractor driver, Devaughn Maranell, 60, of Hutchinson, was northbound on Co. Rd. 7 in a 2018 Volvo tractor/trailer when the driver of a 2003 Dodge Caravan, Matthew McNamara, 43, of Cold Spring, was crossing the intersection, eastbound on Co. Rd. 146.
Maranell attempted to avoid striking the van but was unsuccessful, hitting the van and sending both vehicles into the east side ditch.
McNamara had to be extricated from the van by South Haven Fire and Rescue. He was then transported to the St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance.
Maranell was uninjured. The accident remains under investigation.
