■ Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 27, is Make and Take Week at the Annandale library. Children ages 3 to 10 can make a musical instrument during all open hours to take home in order to expand their musical creativity. The event continues while supplies last. No registration is required.
■ Children ages 3 to 8 were invited to Sunshine Story Time which was scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, at the Annandale library. The day included stories, songs and a fun craft. Story time is sponsored by the Annandale Friends of the Library. For more information, contact the library at 274-8448.
■ The Kickoff to the Fourth of July Gala will be held on Friday, June 26, at Classic Hall. The social is from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a program, dinner, entertainment and dancing. Tickets are available at Annandale State Bank and Star Bank, Annandale.
■ The free Summer Concert Series features West Metro Big Band at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 26, at Annandale Municipal Park.
■ The 61st annual PRCA Championship Rodeo will be held at the rodeo grounds in Buffalo on Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27. For more information and tickets, call 682-7032.
■ The 89th annual Old Settlers Picnic will be held at Fair Haven Park on Saturday, June 27. The day includes a parade, food court, kiddie tractor pull, Polish horseshoe tournament, carnival games for kids, and more. The Old Settler Queen Coronation takes place over the dinner hour. ■ The Annandale Friends of the Library book sale runs from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 27, at city hall. Bring your books, movies, puzzles, records and tapes to the library during operating hours through Monday, June 22. Donations should be in good condition. No encyclopedias or Reader’s Digest condensed books will be accepted.
■ The Annandale Food Shelf is partnering with several other organizations to offer a free community breakfast to feed the hungry from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, at Minnesota Pioneer Park’s Big Woods building. The breakfast is sponsored by Silver Creek Community Church.
■ The Four for Jazz group will perform from 9 a.m. to noon at the Annandale Farmers Market on Saturday, June 27. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a local blend of talent. The quartet plays jazz, blues and pop.
■ Lake John Association’s annual meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, at the Annandale Municipal Park pavilion. Coffee and donuts will be served at 9:30 a.m.
■ The Annandale Fourth of July Kiddie Parade will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, in downtown Annandale. Children and their parents should meet at Annandale Middle School prior to the start. The parade marches down Main Street. Both current Annandale Ambassadors and the 2015-16 Ambassador Candidates will participate in the event.
■ The Annandale Ambassador Program’s Fourth of July Car Wash fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, at the Annandale Fire Station.
■ St. Mary Help of Christians in St. Augusta will host its parish festival from 5 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, June 27, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 28. Live music, firefighter competitions, games and more.
■ The Annandale library will host Reading with Royalty from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30. Annandale’s 2014-15 royalty will conduct storytime before they abdicate their crowns to the 2015-16 royals. Enjoy stories, songs and a craft. Ages 3 to 8. Registration is required. Sponsored by the Annandale Friends of the Library.
■ The Annandale Kiwanis Club will not have its regular meeting on Thursday, July 2.
■ ‘What to Wear!’ is the Annandale Improvement Club program at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale. Jim King of All Things Good, Inc. will walk the audience through the most common body shapes and describe which styles are best to wear for complementing body shape and complexion. The public is welcome, but program registration is required whether or not you are intending to stay for lunch. Lunch will be prepared by Cottage Gourmet and there is a fee. ■ The boat parade on Pleasant Lake will begin at 7 p.m. and conclude around 8 p.m. on Friday, July 3, at Municipal Park.

■ Saturday, July 4, is Independence Day. The parade will be held at 10 a.m., coronation will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the park, the Fabulous Armadillos will play at 7 p.m. in the park and fireworks will be launched at dusk.
■ Minnesota Pioneer Park will host the Old West Society on Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5. Shows are planned at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. each day. See history unfold with re-enactments of historic events and some humor thrown in for fun.
■ Minnesota Pioneer Park is hosting its annual country church service in the historic Finnish Church beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 5, with music by Richard Eckman. ■ Stonecroft Ministries is hosting its ‘Be a Helping Hand … It’s the American Way’ brunch at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale. School nurse Nancy Lepinski and social worker Julie Bronder-Hall will speak, saxophone music will be provided by Naomi Volden and Rachel Snodgrass – a CPA turned actress – of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, will speak on the theme "In and Out of Control." ■ The annual Petals and Palate Garden Tour and Luncheon will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 11. The event is hosted by the ACT Arts Committee, and is a fundraiser to support the arts in the Annandale area. Tickets are on sale at In Hot Water Coffee and Tea, Miller’s Jewelry, Cafe Jules and All Things Good.

■ Help provide a memorable, safe and worry-free night for Annandale High School seniors on graduation night. The next meeting of the Annandale All-Night Graduation Party is Wednesday, July 8.
