
Norma R. Cairns, 87, of Annandale, formerly of Glen Ellyn, Illinois died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at Cardinal Memory Care Cottage of the Annandale Care Center.
A memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday, Feb. 17, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Pastor David Nelson officiating. Additionally, a memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 20, at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn, Illinois with Pastor Charles Plummer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to each service. Burial will take place at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
Norma is survived by her children, Kathleen (Wayne) Mader of Annandale, Connie Ganschow of Wheaton, Illinois, William (Cynthia) Cairns of Wheaton, Illinois, Bryan (Annmarie) Cairns of El Korn, Wisconsin and Scott (Carolyn) Cairns of Westchester, Illinois; grandchildren, Joyce, Edward, Mariclaire, Seamus, Katherine, Meghan, Kaylie, Brandi, Crystal and Brittnay; great-grandchildren, Blake, Ashlee, Emalee, William, Jack, Jake, Faith, Philip, Matthew, James, Henry, William, Lillian, Christian and Zyley; great-great- grandchildren, Nova and Cholie; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Libby Bost; husband, William Cairns; sons-in-law, Philip Healy and Norman Ganschow; brothers, Edward Bost and Bennet Bost; and sisters, Mary McMann and Betty Eckmayer-Thies.
Norma Roberta Bost Cairns was born Oct. 7, 1928, in Sheffield, Illinois, to Frank and Libby (Sweet) Bost. She graduated from Schures High School in Chicago, Illinois, with the Class of 1946. She worked as a banking clerk and a homemaker. Norma was a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and attended services at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale. She was a member of the American Legion and was active with the Boy Scouts of America, March of Dimes and PTA. Norma enjoyed golfing, bowling and boating.
