Cards defeat Watertown-Mayer 12-0

The Annandale Cardinals defeated the Watertown-Mayer Royals 12-0 on Friday night, Oct. 15, in Wright County Conference football action.  Two second half Chris Horsch touchdowns were the difference in the game. The first was an end run of about 30 yards with 7:22 left to play in the third quarter. That gave the Cards a 6-0 lead in a defensive struggle that was played in wet, windy and cold conditions at Annandale.  Horsch took a draw play into the end zone from 33-yards out with just over six minutes to play in the final quarter. The second score was enough to thwart off any late Royal threat.  The Cards play Delano, who lost to Glencoe-Silver Lake on Friday night, on Wednesday night, Oct. 20, for a chance to win the Wright County Conference championship. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.  Annandale’s record improved to 5-1 in the WCC and 6-1 overall with the win over W-M.  See next week’s Advocate and this web site for more on the Cardinals.
